Madison Realty Group, Inc.
DAVID H. GALOWICH

David brings to Madison his experience as a practicing attorney, an active real estate developer and broker. David has primary responsibility of all company operations including evaluation, acquisition, development, construction financing, management and disposition of real estate assets. Since joining Madison in 1993, the projects David has worked on have yielded development rights for approximately 4,500 dwelling units and the construction of 500,000 square feet of retail development.

David commenced his legal career at the Chicago law firm of Clausen, Miller, Gorman, Caffrey & Witous, P.C. Upon leaving Clausen Miller, David formed and managed his own law practice in downtown Chicago, where he concentrated in real estate and aviation transactional matters, business and real estate litigation, and general corporate matters.

As an attorney, David successfully negotiated and handled complex issues surrounding real estate acquisition, development, leasing and disposition. These included the representation of clients in the acquisition and development of large parcels of vacant land; the acquisition, management and disposition of income-producing multi-family, retail, commercial and farm properties; the negotiation of title claims, mechanics liens and eminent domain proceedings; and the negotiation and representation of tenants in commercial lease negotiations.

Prior to joining Madison, David was, in 1991, a co-founder of Burton Realty Partners, Ltd. During his tenure, Burton acted as a mortgage broker in procuring financing for large industrial and office properties, represented office tenants in commercial lease negotiations, represented a developer in the pre-construction sale/leaseback of a 100,000-square-foot international headquarters office building, and acted as broker on behalf of purchasers seeking vacant land for retail development.

David is a full member of the Urban Land Institute and serves ULI in many capacities on both a national and local level. This currently includes being a member of the national ULI Community Development Council and an active member of the ULI Chicago District Council. As a representative of the ULI Chicago District Council, David also sits on the Land Use Committee of the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning. David is a frequent speaker of the topics of land use, the land development process and Smart Growth.

David is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago and the Illinois State Bar Association. David received a Juris Doctor degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago-Kent College of Law and a B.A. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. David was a charter Director and Officer of The Michael Jordan Foundation and has served in similar capacities for several other charities in the Chicago area.
